Carrie Underwood just might do okay at this music thing.

Five months after her first single debuted at the top of the charts, the "American Idol" winner can also claim a best-selling album. Underwood's disc "Some Hearts" will sit at the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart next week.

The album sold 314,000 copies in its first week of release to push it to the No. 1 spot, displacing Kenny Chesney's "The Road and the Radio." The No. 1 spot makes "Some Hearts" the highest debut by a new artist on the country chart this year, and the highest country debut since the SoundScan system of tracking sales went into effect in 1991.

Underwood will also occupy the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 charts, which includes albums in all genres.

"Some Hearts" follows a pattern of high-charting debuts for "American Idol" winners. Kelly Clarkson and Ruben Studdard both saw their first albums hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as did season two runner-up Clay Aiken. "Free Yourself," the first album from 2004 winner Fantasia Barrino, peaked at No. 8.

Underwood has a slew of TV appearances booked in conjunction with the release of her album, including a spot in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade airing Thursday (Nov. 24) on NBC.
